Aftertaste
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
You enter a cafe, and the scent of coffee fills your nose. You think about what you're going to order, as one does in a cafe, when you realize, perhaps a little too calmly, you have absolutely no memory of who you are. No name. No job. No home.
No identity.
But that's not important right now: Hot guy alert! You meet Yonah, another patron of the cafe who is a mystery and horror novelist; he tells you that you are a detective, and a rather good one, at that. Using your deductive reasoning skills, you have no choice but to learn about who you are...and who Yonah is, too.

Aftertaste was written for NaNoRenO 2024. Currently, only part of the story has been released; further updates will come shortly until the story is fully complete. Please note that some story parts, artwork, and other assets in this current iteration may change in the future, and it does not reflect the final game.
On your journey to finding out who you are, you'll meet plenty of other colorful characters as well. Take to heart their warnings and worries.
Currently, Aftertaste boasts the following:
- ~ 15,000 words and approximately 1,5 hours of playtime
- Point-and-Click sequences where you can explore your surroundings
- Custom pronouns for The Detective
- A secret "ending"
- Exciting and dynamic camerawork
- Excellently selected, engaging soundtrack
- Beautifully rendered art
- Yonah's bountiful bosom
- ... and more!
Aftertaste contains mature themes which are not suitable for all audiences, which may be distressing to certain readers. Player discretion is advised.
Detailed Warnings (spoilers)
- Depictions of gore & on-screen blood splatters
- Major depictions of (erotic) cannibalism
- Graphic description of a panic attack
- A surreal reality

Gosh now the entirety of the mysterious identity of the MC is going to keep me up at night! Darn you Berin for making such a good game!!!!
Thank you!! I think you're the first person to actually present the heavenly haze to yonah, well done 😂
Hello I didn't get to finish everything in one sitting so I saved the game to finish it today, however the save doesn't load correctly. Instead of resuming the game to the point I ended the last time it seems to throw me to the beginning of the game again and the same thing happens no matter how many times I try to load the save again. It wouldn't be that bad if I could skip to the point I finished but skipping also doesn't work.
Hi! First off, thank you so much for playing our game, it means a lot to us!!
Could you describe the circumstances of the bug a bit more? At which point did you save, and did you have any screens open at the time (like the journal screen or the inventory?) It would help us recreate the bug so we can fix it 🙏
So as you can see in the thumbnail I finished after the IT guy left and after I talked to that girl and Yonah. I think I talked to Yonah the last. I think that neither dialogue nor the inventory were open because I waited to finish the current thing and only then saved and left.
And this is what I see after loading this save. When I talk to the barista the dialogue where Yonah pays for me plays out. In other words I get sent back to the beginning of the game.
Thank you for providing all that additional information! I tried to reproduce your bug according to what you provided but unfortunately, I haven't been able to. Could you answer a few more questions for me?:
- Do you also have any Quick-Save slots?
- Which Save action did you use to save, quick-save or regular save?. Q-Save Slots are listed on the "Q" page, and the "save and "load" buttons that are shown on screen during dialogues are for q-saves and q-loads
- What operating system do you use?
- Which version of the game did you play? 1.0 or 1.1?
- Looks like I do have a single quick save.
- I use Windows 10.
- I use the 1.1 version.
Does the quick save slot match the save you seem to load when the bug occurs?
I don't know if more would be revealed in Part 2 or if I just missed something but I'm HUNGRY for more (see what I did there...ok I'll see myself out)
Thank you so much!! You already made some interesting predictions in your playthrough👀 More will be revealed on Day 3 onwards~
