Patch 1.1 Release!


Hello, Berin here with the patch 1.1! This update gives Part 1 a lot of polish to make it even more exciting and elevate Yonah's charm to new heights ✨We are of course also working on the full game, more details below~

Changelog

  • You can now use the "Skip" function to skip dialogue you have already seen
  • You can now use the "Auto" function to have the text advance automatically
  • The "Save" and "Load" buttons in the on-screen quickmenu have been renamed to "Q.Save" and "Q.Load"
  • The game has overall more dynamic camera work now, with parallax effects during character dialogue scenes among other things
  • Yonah's sprite set has received several handsome additions
  • The female customer has her own sprites now
  • The male customer has his own sprites now
  • All new and existing character sprites have 4x higher resolution now so you can take a reaaally close look
  • There are more overall screen effects to add to the atmosphere
  • The Detective will refrain from thinking of Yonah while examining the espresso machine after they've talked to him
  • The edgescroll speed during point & click sequences has been adjusted so it is always at maximum
  • A bug has been fixed, where point & click hotspots were still clickable while the game menu was open
  • A bug has been fixed where on the "Save" and "Load" pages, the page buttons and the save slots would overlap so you would miss-click easily
  • A bug has been fixed where one of the questions you can ask the female customer would count twice and she would not let you ask a second question
  • Fixed a few spelling errors


Behind the Scenes Updates

Sprites

Apart from the Baristas, all NPCs are shown sitting at a table during dialogues. To make asset creation simpler, we used separate images for the cafe table and the sprites, and they had to be shown and hidden separately in the code so far. For the 1.1 update, I reworked this code to use LayeredImages instead, so that you need just one line to show and hide a character.

Camera

You will notice that the camera will now very slightly follow the cursor in most scenes! We achieved this with Midge's Parallax camera code. Furthermore, the camera will now zoom in or out in a few moments to highlight certain objects or people. Now you can really get up close and personal with Yonah ♥. The overall effect was achieved with Ren'Py's 3D stage.

Progress on the Full Game

We are in the middle of implementing Day 3 of 5! You will be able to use items and manipulate your surroundings to unveil the mystery surrounding your identity.  We aim to release the full game during fall this year~
